By Maryland state law, all non-certified for-hire pesticide applicators must be registered and must receive training. These individuals are referred to as registered employees.

In Maryland, all persons who apply pesticides for a business must be trained as either commercial applicators or as registered employees who work under the supervision of a commercial applicator.

A six-part video series, Using Pesticides Safely, was developed by the PEAP to train registered employees and is widely used throughout the state and across the country. The set is available on VHS or DVD and may be purchased by calling the Entomology Department Extension Secretary at 301-405-3913.
