The following resources may be useful for health care providers who would like to improve their ability to recognize and diagnose pesticide-related illnesses. While many of the pesticides presented in the case studies are still used in agriculture and other settings, the use of these older pesticides has declined in recent years due to economic factors, pest resistance issues, and regulatory actions. Case reports from newer classes of insecticides, herbicides, fungicides, and other pesticides are less available. Factors accounting for this may include less acute toxicity of newer products as well as applicators’ adoption of improved techniques to minimize their exposure.
